Advertising for Bitcoin? – Spanish politicians receive crypto funds
All 350 members of the Spanish Congress have received 1 euro in crypto.
The parliamentarians from the Spanish Congress had a positive surprise, because each of them received the equivalent of 1 euro sent to their email inbox
Like the Spanish news portal ABC , this is part of an action by the decentralized platform Tutellus, which wants to tokenize educational technology via crypto technology, and the Blockchain Observatory. The campaign is intended to raise awareness of cryptocurrencies in Spain.
All 350 members of the congress received the equivalent of 1 euro in the form of a crypto currency by email. Miguel Caballero, the founder of Tutellus, states that he wants to raise awareness of the future role of cryptocurrencies in society:
„We have shown the honorable MPs that we are in the middle of a fundamental change in terms of the use of money, and we have also emphasized that crypto currencies play an important role.“
Caballero emphasizes that the crypto funds „are not a donation“. While he assumes that some MPs are already familiar with cryptocurrencies, this would be an opportunity to learn for those less familiar with the topic.
Spain isn’t the first country to send crypto funds to politicians
In the United States, for example, the Digital Economy Chamber sent 50 US dollars in Bitcoin to 541 members of the American Congress at the beginning of October, as Decrypt reports.
Spanish banks are already showing an increased interest in crypto currencies and block chain, the bank Santander for example, works with the block chain payment service Ripple together , while Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), a study on the use of cryptographic methods commissioned has.
The European Central Bank (ECB) has again announced that it wants to investigate the introduction of a digital euro.
